Create Animated GIFs from Movies or YouTube videos Using Instagiffer




A GIF file or Graphics Interchange Format is a bitmap image that supports up to 8 bits per pixel for any image which in result allows a single image to indicate its own palette of up to 256 different colors chosen from the 24-bit color space. A GIF image can also support animation and for each frame, it permits a separate palette up to 256 colors. An animated GIF is a collection of some frames that are revealed in sequence. Last past few years the animated GIFs have become very popular among the users and these days, they are used widely over the Internet. Today we intend to introduce you a freeware application called Instagiffer that offers you creating animated GIFs from any movies. But one main feature of this software beside its user friendly GUI and ease of use, is it also can create animations from any YouTube video.



Working with Instagiffer is very easy and has various functionality such as Starting time, Frame Size, Quality, Effects, and Captions. To know how to make an animated GIF using the Instagiffer, just follow the steps below:


Step 1

The Instagiffer is a freeware application that supports video mkv, flv, avi, and mp4 formats. It also creates GIFs directly from YouTube which you need only to add the video URL and the Instagiffer will take care of the rest. Currently this application is available for the Windows although a MAC beta version is provided but it currently still under development. Go the links below, download and install it on your system:

Step 2

Execute the Instagiffer and under the "File or Youtube URL" section, navigate to your movie (click on the Load Video button) or enter the URL (in case you want to use the YouTube videos). In front of the "Start Time", select the starting point of the video that you want to create an animated GIF from. 



Step 3

Now the only thing you need to do is to determine GIF quality, frame size, effects etc. you can as well add a caption to the animation. To do this just select its option; choose the font, size, color and position. You also have the choice to assign a start and end point for the caption.



Step 4

When you've finished with all the settings and everything, at the bottom of the window, click on the Create GIF button. The Instagiffer will start the process and your animated GIF will be ready in a few seconds. At the end the application will save the GIF on your local machine and shows you a preview of the animation.
